THE NEW JERK TIMES was a “break-up band”, my neurotic take on the thrilling and emotional chaos of being single after years of being a boyfriend. I was listening to a lot of 1950’s minor-key jazz and striptease music and wanted to play songs about lust and partying. “Not Like The Other Girls” ended up on the soundtrack to HBO’s Bored to Death. I also played ukulele on the score to the series’ final episode and hung out on-set as Mary Steenburgen’s ukulele coach.
